Going to the Keys is definitely an experience. There is only one road that takes you to Key West. Take Overseas Highway all the way down. Once you get to Key West, park your car for the day. You can rent bikes anywhere. Honestly the island is not really big and it is the best way to discover it. Key West is a cute colorful place with the typical laid back lifestyle of the Caribbean’s Islands.
I wanted to visit The Turtle hospital since the first time I heard about it a couple of years ago. I never had the chance to go. I have to say I am a sucker for turtles—I just love them. They are just so stinking cute!
I always knew that you could find a lot of sea turtles in Florida, but I had never encountered one.
Between Miami and us, it wasn’t really love at first sight. We have been living in Florida for 5 years now and we had only gone to Miami 3 times (once was to take a cruise).
The previous time we visited Miami, we were only there for a couple of hours, so we didn’t really do anything but stay around South Beach. The beach is nice and is definitely one of the best rated in Florida, but there are so many tourists and it is really cliché. I am talking about people driving down Ocean Drive with expensive rental cars and half naked women in the back seat. And I am not even kidding.
However we decided to give Miami another chance—and I am so glad we did.
Forget about everything you think you know about Downtown Disney, especially if your last visit was more than 2 years ago. Downtown Disney is gone! It went under a massive expansion and transformation. Now it is called Disney Springs, and it is amazing!
Downtown Disney was first created in the mid 70’s and was called Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, which was later, renamed Disney Village Marketplace.
In the late 1980’s, Disney added Pleasure Island. In the mid 90’s, Downtown Disney West Side was created with more entertainment places like House of Blues and Planet Hollywood.
St Petersburg, nicknamed The Sunshine City, is definitely a stop to make while visiting the Gulf Coast. It is only located 21 miles west of Tampa. In the last couple of years, St Pete has imposed itself as a cultural and artsy city.
We went there only for a day and honestly I can NOT wait to go back and explore the city a little bit more.
We started our day trip downtown St Petersburg, familiarly called St Pete and we LOVED it. It is amazing, green, palm trees are everywhere, it leaves such a great fresh feeling.
